Basic zinc carbonate can be used as a key raw material for producing desulfurizers and catalysts in the petrochemical and fertilizer industries. It is also employed in latex products, film products, and the manufacture of rayon. The transparency of basic zinc carbonate is comparable to that of natural rubber; thus, it serves as a reinforcing agent and a vulcanization accelerator in transparent rubber products. In oil drilling operations, basic zinc carbonate reacts with hydrogen sulfide to form stable, insoluble ZnS. Moreover, when added to drilling mud, it does not affect the mud’s performance, making it highly effective in eliminating hydrogen sulfide-induced pollution and corrosion. Consequently, it can be used as an inhibitor and desulfurizer for oil and gas wells containing hydrogen sulfide.
